Just a little bit of info

If your dog is excessively panting and is having difficulty breathing

  • Move into the shade
  • Cool all of your dog with water and fan the head
  • Let your dog drink small amounts of cool water frequently.

Ticks are potentially harmful parasites which can spread nasty diseases. check for ticks during and after walking Particularly in the summer.

If you find a tick- They look like a smooth dark pea- use tweezers to squeeze the skin that surrounds the tick and grab its head. slowly, pull it out. Make sure you get the whole tick , as anything left can still cause problems. If you have access to some olive oil, drop some on the tick with a dropper first - this suffocates them and makes them easier to pull out. If in doubt contact your vet.

Insect stings If a sting is left in your dog, scrape it away with a fingernail or credit card.

  • Do not squeeze or grasp the sting
  • Cool the area with a wet cloth to help reduce pain or swelling.
  • If in doubt, contact your vet.

Adder bites Keep your dog calm. If possible, do not allow it to walk. Carry your dog if possible. Leave the bite wound alone and consult a vet immediately.

On a public right of way, you do not have to keep you dog on a lead, but they must always be under close control. Under the Countryside rights of way act in England and wales, you must keep your dog on a short lead (up to 2 metres) on Open Access land between 1st March and 31st July, and at all other times when you are near farm animals. Even well behaved dogs can scare wildlife especially during ground nesting season.

Dog owners have a legal duty to clean up every time your dog messes on designated land.

Doggy house rules

Worm and flea treatments are up to date and your dog is microchipped

Your dog must be at least one year old at the time of your holiday.

You agree to accept full responsibility for any damages and /or soiling caused by your dog during your stay.

We ask if you can clean up after your dog, inside and outside.

We ask that you don't allow dogs upstairs, in any of the bedrooms or on any of the furniture

Dogs must not be left unattended with free roam to the house.

The barn has an enclosed garden but please ensure they are supervised at all times and that the gate is closed. There are sheep in the neighboring field

Please bag and bin all deposits. (scoop and bags provided)

Dogs must be clean before entry to the barn particularly after wet or muddy walks. Your dog must not be permitted to cause any kind of nuisance to the neighbouring property,

Our high cleaning standards ensure that guests without dogs can confidently stay without doggy smells and dog hairs. However it would be almost impossible to maintain these high standards without the co-operation and respect from pet owners.
